Image to PDF

Put photos, scans and screenshots into one PDF, one picture to a page, in the order you choose. It all happens inside your browser, so the pictures never leave your device.

Why it matters that nothing is uploaded

The pictures people turn into PDFs are rarely holiday snaps. They are an Aadhaar or PAN card, a passport page, a bank statement, a salary slip, a signed form. Most converters send those to a server to do the work. This page does not: the PDF is put together by JavaScript inside your own browser and saved straight to your device. Once the page has loaded you could switch off your Wi-Fi and it would still work.

Your photos are not squeezed again

A JPG goes into the PDF byte for byte, exactly as your camera or phone saved it, so it loses nothing. PNG, WebP, GIF and BMP pictures are stored without loss too, and a see-through PNG stays see-through. The other side of that is size: the PDF comes out about as big as the pictures together. To send a smaller file, shrink the photos first with the Image Compressor.

Phone photos stay the right way up

A phone saves every photo the way its sensor saw it and adds a note saying which way to turn it. Your browser and your gallery app obey that note, but many PDF makers ignore it, which is why photos often come out on their side. This page writes the turn into the PDF itself, without redrawing the photo. If a picture is still not the way you want it, the ↻ button turns it a quarter at a time.

    Choosing a page size

The same as each picture makes every page exactly the size of its picture, at the 96 pixels to the inch a browser shows it at, so nothing is added around it. A4 and US Letter fit each picture inside the margin, centred and with its shape kept, ready to print. With the orientation on automatic, a wide picture gets a sideways page so it is not shrunk to fit a tall one.

    Frequently asked questions

    Will my photos lose quality?

No. A JPG is copied into the PDF unchanged, and every other kind of picture is stored without loss. Nothing is compressed a second time.

Why does the PDF come out so big?

Because the pictures go in as they are. A PDF of ten 3 MB photos is about 30 MB. To make it smaller, shrink the photos first with the Image Compressor and then add them here.

Can I change the order of the pages?

Yes. The arrows move a picture up or down, and Sort by name puts them in order of their file names, with numbers in their natural order, so photo 2 comes before photo 10.

Why is my iPhone photo not accepted?

It is probably a HEIC file. A picture can only go in if your browser can open it: Safari can open HEIC, most other browsers cannot. Export it as a JPG first, or on an iPhone choose Settings, Camera, Formats, Most Compatible so new photos are saved as JPG.

How many pictures can I add?

Up to 200 in one PDF. A picture that has to be redrawn, which is anything other than an ordinary JPG, can be up to 40 megapixels. JPGs are not redrawn, so they have no such limit.

Can I search the text in the PDF?

No. Each page is a picture, so the words on a scanned page are part of the picture rather than text a computer can read. Making them searchable needs character recognition, which this page does not do.

What happens to an animated GIF?

Only its first frame goes into the PDF, because a PDF page cannot move.

    Are my pictures uploaded?

No. The PDF is put together by JavaScript inside your own browser and saved straight to your device. Nothing is uploaded and nothing is stored - close the tab and it is gone.
