Rotate PDF

Turn the pages of a PDF that came out sideways or upside down: all of them, the odd or even ones, or the ones you pick. It happens inside your browser, so the document never leaves your device.

Nothing in the file is redrawn

A PDF page carries a note saying how far to turn it when it is shown. This page changes that note and nothing else: the text, pictures and fonts are not touched, so nothing loses quality and the text can still be selected and searched. The change is added to the end of the file in the way the PDF standard provides for edits, which means everything else in the document stays exactly as it was: bookmarks, links, attachments, filled-in forms and the document's details.

Scans fed in the wrong way

A stack of pages scanned double-sided often comes out with every second page upside down. Choose Even pages and Upside down to put them right in one go. A page that already had a turn keeps it and gets yours on top, so a page that was sideways and is turned a quarter clockwise ends up the way it would if you turned the paper.

Why it matters that nothing is uploaded

Scanned documents are usually personal ones: identity cards, certificates, medical reports, signed forms. This page turns them inside your browser and saves the result straight to your device; the file is never sent anywhere.

Frequently asked questions

Will turning the pages reduce the quality?

No. Only the note that tells a reader how far to turn each page changes; the text and pictures are not touched or compressed again.

Are bookmarks and forms kept?

Yes. The turn is added to the end of the file, the way the PDF standard provides for edits, so everything else in it stays exactly as it was. The one exception is a file whose index is damaged: it has to be rebuilt, which keeps the pages but not the bookmarks or forms, and the page tells you before you download.

Why is the turned file slightly bigger than the original?

Because the original is kept as it is and the change is added after it. The difference is a few hundred bytes per page turned.

My document is signed. Does turning pages break the signature?

A reader will show that the document was changed after it was signed, because it was. If the signature matters, keep the original as well.

Can I turn a password-protected PDF?

No, its contents are encrypted. If you know the password, open the file in your PDF reader, save a copy without protection, and turn that copy.

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. The PDF is read and changed by JavaScript inside your own browser, and the result is saved straight to your device. Nothing is uploaded and nothing is stored - close the tab and it is gone.
